Another attempt, another reason it has to work this time. If you've quit before and it slipped, that isn't a character flaw, it's what happens when the habit still has a hold on the part of the mind that runs on autopilot, the part that reaches for a cigarette before you've even decided to.
BOOK A SESSIONSmoking stops being a choice long before most people notice. The cigarette becomes attached to specific moments: the first coffee, a stressful phone call, the drive home, the ten minutes alone on a break. Your mind has learned that the cigarette resolves something, and it runs that association automatically, well before conscious willpower gets a say.
That is why "just stop" so often doesn't hold. You are not fighting a lack of discipline. You are fighting an automatic pattern that formed over years, one that fires on its own schedule regardless of how much you want to quit.
Patches, gum and willpower address the nicotine and the moment of resistance. They do less to address the pattern itself, the automatic reach that happens before you've had time to resist anything.
Hypnotherapy works with the part of the mind that runs the automatic reach, the association between a trigger and a cigarette that formed long before you decided to quit. The aim is not to suppress the urge through effort, but to change how your mind reads the trigger in the first place, so there is less to resist.
You are alert and aware throughout the session. Hypnotherapy does not put you to sleep, does not take away your control, and does not require you to be "highly suggestible." It is a focused, clinical process for interrupting a pattern your mind has been running on your behalf.
I want to be upfront about what the research actually shows, rather than oversell it. A 2019 Cochrane review of 14 trials, and a more recent 2025 systematic review, both found the evidence still too limited and inconsistent to say definitively that hypnotherapy outperforms other stop-smoking methods. If there's a benefit, the honest reading of the research is that it's likely modest, not guaranteed, and not a substitute for wanting to quit in the first place.
What it can offer, for some people, is the piece other methods don't reach: addressing the automatic association itself, alongside whatever else you're already using.
People who have tried before, more than once, and are looking for a different angle rather than repeating what didn't hold last time. People who notice the reach for a cigarette happens before they've consciously decided anything, and want to work with that pattern directly.
This is not aimed at anyone in the middle of an acute medical crisis related to smoking; that needs a doctor first. For most other situations, hypnotherapy sits alongside your GP's advice and any nicotine replacement you're using, not instead of it.
Sessions are online, via video, from wherever you are in Australia.

22+ Years Clinical Experience
I spent 15 years in frontline mental health casework before specialising in hypnotherapy. That background means I understand what habit and craving actually do to the mind and body, not just the surface of it, and I would rather tell you honestly where the evidence is strong and where it isn't than promise more than the research supports.
